My trashabout experience

Today was the nicest weather we had all year. I got my butt out there and did my litter lessening thing on MLK Drive. We have a lot of litter blowing around. Surprise surprise! I put myself in the bright sun in a grassy spot that was easy on my neuroma laden feet. I filled most of about 2 30 gallon trash bags while I was out there. Litter cleanup fans thanked me today with bicycle bells, applause, and good ol’ thank you’s. I came home, feeling pooped, but nothing calms me down more than contributing something useful in our difficult world. It felt good to see my “after” photos and the clear difference I made on site. I hope to be strong enough to get out there tomorrow too. Canker sores are taking over my mouth and neither my doctor cannot figure out what is burning my mouth and gums up. I’m picking up litter, trying to think positive thoughts, and hoping this too soon will pass. Thanks for reading my short blurb today. Onward to my short visual story section I go.

Welcome to my visual storytelling.

I found a “nice” grassy patch in the sun around 11:30am. My litter cleanup commences
I brought out the big guns today – my 30 pound trashbag holder. It was needed. I took a rare picture of me. My stomach sends a signal over and over again to my brain saying it feels as if I have recently eaten raw roadkill and I should stop everything I’m doing and think the same stop eating roadkill thought over and over again immediately. Clearly, I’m not listening to my gut/brain messaging
Here’s trashcan #1 in a construction zone. My city is fixing up our Martin Luther King trails

A littered contractor bag … flag?
Cool litter find – RAP Snacks potato chips
You probably can hardly see the underpass in the distance, but I took my time and beautified the whole stretch. Now the grass can grow in peace. I had two green bags full of litter.
Remember that contractor bag flag I showed you earlier? I used it to pick up the rocks. I do not want a kid or elderly person getting hurt on a rock that shouldn’t be on the road. Heck, I do not want anyone getting hurt. Accidents happen…
Here’s my final volunteer effort today. Here’s my trash can zero. Our Philly sanitization workers better lift that bag properly when they come to clean up.
One final thought: It was great to see our city people out there cleaning up graffiti. I have only seen a park graffiti cleanup once in person. Thanks man, whoever you are! And thank you random Internet reader for viewing my short visual story.

It’s not amazing, but take a moment and reflect on the everyday people that make magic happen. You might never meet or see them, but many faceless people are behind the scenes trying to make life a little better for you.
